Well...

There's no cool way to say it so we're just going to say it. This is our final post on theblagg in its current form. A huge thank YOU to everyone who read the posts over the years and was infuriated or enthralled or enticed or in distress so much that they couldn't leave a comment. Ha! Thank you for reading right now. We're going to leave you with fratpack's What Do They Know - which gives Zaki Ibrahim's The Kids Are Talking a fratpackular twist - because we want you to download the frwednesday mixtape HERE if you haven't already and because we love you.

Peace

Calibre Justice

By now, you all know that hip hop group, fratpack, recently dropped a newish offering called frwednesday Mixtape. If you don't and you're keen on hearing it then download it HERE. Now, back to today's post. It brings The Ordinary Girl great pleasure to give you a first look at the Calibre Justice video. Over a Justice beat, Mr Calibre goes in about his vices (Coca Cola) and his pet-peeves (pretty boys rappers, teehee) and more. The joint is taken off frwednesday Mixtape and the video was shot a hop and skip away from where Mr Calibre and his crew hang out and skate on Funisu boards by me.

As someone who has known the brothers, me and Mr Calibre, since the days when the latter used to insist people say his whole alias (Mr Mr Calibre The Boy With Infinite Skill), I must say it's been quite something to watch him grow and come into his own like this. And as a rap fan, I'd have to say it's even nicer to hear him spitting about, amongst other things, not caring whether you know any of the names he mentions in the verse. The point is, you don't have to worry about that - you'll know in due time and inspite of your resistance. The visuals are brought to life by the producing and rapping half of fratpack, me. No, Dude, I'm not getting you a director's chair just yet. Doesn't it look like it was fun at this sausage party? I'm kidding, I'm kidding, fratpack loves the ladies. Peep the Calibre Justice video below:

FRWEDNESDAY MIXTAPE

Happy Hump Day! If you've been reading theblagg or following fratpack (@fratpackmusic) then you already know what frwednesday is all about. If not then do not pass go, do not collect 200 and get the heck off the internet. I'm just kidding. Come back, come back. Now, you all know the hip hop group called fratpack (one word, all lower case), right? For every Wednesday of the past couple of months, they would release a song for their fam. Called frwednesdays, the songs were mostly the two brothers rapping on beats that me far-outed. So it's only fitting that me and Mr Calibre drop a compilation of those joints and a few new ones on a Wednesday. Yep, TODAY. The frwednesday Mixtape is available for free download over HERE and in addition to features by the likes of BIG FKN GUN and Reason as well as far-outing my favourite Zaki Ibrahim song, the mixtape is packed full of surprises. The frwednesday mixtape is the final offering before fratpack's famlove EP is released in the final quarter of this year. Tell all your frwednes! Here's the tracklist:

Everybody But Me

Ohhhh, let the Jameson sink in found HERE

It's frwednesday and you know what that means. This week, those fratpack boys give us some insight into who they really are. Mr Calibre sets the scene first and me takes it further - even throwing in a Rihanna refrain that we're all familiar with by now. The brothers far outed Lykke Li's Everybody But Me and the joint can be downloaded over HERE.

Dream A Little

So... theblagg can't contain our excitement any longer. fratpack's video for Dream is almost ready for you all to peep but in the mean time, the brothers me and Mr Calibre brought out a behind the scenes teaser of the video. The joint is not available on fratpack's second mixtape, Not In The Mixtape but you can listen to the joint right HERE. However, that doesn't mean NITM won't have any videos. It's only the beginning for the kids so we're going to stop waffling now and let you savour this is a special edition of frwednesdays so let us know what you think.

Double Trouble

The only thing better than a fratpack song is two fratpack songs! And in keeping with the cheesy-ness from whence that line came, we added the mother of all gouda’s, a Double Impact picture for a double whammy of dopeness. Phew. Now that I’ve caught my breath, check out the last two frwednesday joints from me and Mr Calibre. Last week’s frwednesday is called Industry Shutdown (who says that’s not an actual word?) and the today’s song is No Handout (straight out of the fractionary).

Sweet Love

How cute is that picture? Flickr does wonders ne?

Ok, so this week's frwednesday was something a tad different from fratpack. Yep, it's a love song that doesn't feature anyone saying they want to marry hip hop or make her the love of their life. Hey, she can't have it all. I'm just playing.

The song samples Teedra Moses' Sweet Love and the songbird can be heard doing her thing as well. Nice combo, I'd say so I'm saying it. Mr Calibre is on first and me is on the second verse. What do you guys think of the jam?

For The Posers

How dope is this picture that we found HERE

Explaining the latest in fratpack's frwednesdays series would be spoiling it for you. A pure disservice. Aptly titled For The Posers, here's what me and Mr Calibre really want you to know:

Staring At The Sun

So by now you already know of the real Mario Bros known as fratpack, right? Now, we're putting you onto BIG FKN GUN or BFG for short. The Kwa-Zulu Natal crew started out as a virtual band, hence all the robot imagery. Fancy-shmancy ne? But trying to work a nine-to-five without being born into a trust fund nest egg means that not everyone can be the Gorillaz. Anyway, fratpack and BFG hooked up and tested the Icarus theory out on this banger. Did someone say club music? Check it out, dance to it and let us know what you think. Sidebar: We know frwednesdays was yesterday so can we get a late pass on this?

The Dream

How pretty are these clouds that we found here? Dream-like huh?

No, no, no, this is not about Christina Milian’s baby-daddy, eh! Even though the joint is a ten, eh-eh! If you didn’t get that reference then nevermind us. Ok, so this is the fourth installment of frwednesdays brought to you by fratpack. Today’s joint – even though it’s a little late - is about chasing your dreams. Yeah, even you who can’t back up off the computer screen and do some real work. We love you though, keep coming back. Once again me made the instrumental and the chorus pays homage to Jay-Z’s A Dream. Mr Calibre raps first while me follows.

Happy frwednesdays folks!

Starry Eyed

how cool is this pic taken from All Vectors?

Tell your peoples! It's frwednesday! The latest ditty from fratpack's frwednesday's series is Starry Eyed. Returning to their Far Out Mixtape roots, me sampled Ellie Goulding's banger. Her featherweight voice is almost unrecognisable in this pyschedelic musical intoxication. It's like theme music to that red backdrop scene in Menace To Society where Kane's father keeps calling him. Remember? Oh nevermind. And of course the brothers rap their asses off. But don't take out word for it. Listen below and tell us what you think?

Get It Right

Hands up if you missed Frwednesdays yesterday? If the news on the net is anything to go by then it's just us. Bad theblagg, bad theblagg. We are spanking ourselves right now. Well, maybe not but you get the idea and here we are bringing you some next level left shit because we like to get it right.

This time around producer/emcee me (aka Mr Nobody to those in the know) decided to put the MPC on pause for a bit and he and Mr Calibre rocked on a 14K instrumental. The brothers known as fratpack put this track out on Wednesday - it is Frwednesday after all - and they're pushing that fratpackular fashion steez. I know, I'm going to stop saying steez in 2044. Listen to Get It Right below.

1ne meMix

This is a still of the actual 1ne video and was found over at This Is Lavie

The boy called me of fratpack has just dropped a remix - or memix to you - of Tiron's popular 1ne track. Tiron is the guy we told you about HERE and you can still download his tapes if you haven't heard him yet.

This particular version of 1ne was put on the interwebs by the producing half of fratpack, while we wait for the duo's upcoming mixtape called Not In The Mix Tape. More memixes will be uploaded each Wednesday as part of their Frwednesdays (read fratpack + Wednesdays = friend's days) to help you get over these music hump days.

So about this memix, don't you just love the violins? What's that? You haven't heard it yet? Well then here you go. Don't ever say theblagg doesn't love you.
