Tumi performance @ The Hype Awards

In case you haven't noticed, WE LOVE TUMI!!!! Ahem...it goes without saying. I mean anyone who can maintain rocking Jordans since he was 13 is alright in our books. So you know when he hit the stage at the second Hype Awards, EbonyWoman sprung into action using her Superphotography-100x-zoom-function-able-to-download-on-computer-what-you-saw-vision...power...thingy. So courtesy of EbonyWoman's power, here's Tumi performing Usain Bolt (why oh why do bad titles happen to awesome songs?) and Bambezela featuring Brickz and Zaki Ibrahim.

Hype Awards: Pre-Show

Ok so we're only a few hours away from the second annual Hype Magazine Awards and although there isn't much er, hype (I'm sorry, my corny side took over ;-P) surrounding the do we are still showing love.

theblagg's favourite people on the nominees list are One-2 and Last Days Fam and while we wish them the very best tonight, theblagg knows that sometimes things just don't work out the way they should. Both are nominated in the Best Group category.
We caught up with Naked-Eye of One-2 as well as LDF's Bonafide - who both aren't as jittery as one might expect - and quizzed them on being nominees:

theblagg: What does being nominated for a Hype Award mean to you?
Naked-Eye: To me it means that someone, or rather the powers that be recognise what we do as artists.
Bonafide: It's an honour and it really feels good being nominated for the award. People are recognising the brand of Last Days Fam and it shows that they are appreciating the music and we're truly humbled by that.

theblagg: What would you say are the strengths that have made sure you make it onto the list?
Naked-Eye: We worked hard, performed everywhere, went almost half-way across the country. Did every interview possible! After making it onto the list we campaigned at shows we performed at. We encouraged people to vote via the One-2 group on Facebook. We did a campaign video and an MMS version too. We had people do campaign posters for us.
Bonafide: Being accessible to the people - that's one of our strengths that I can think of. Being out there not being out of reach and introducing our music to a new market growing the brand.

theblagg: If you don't win Best Group who do you think should?
Naked-Eye: Honestly Last Days Fam!
Bonafide: Teargas should win it because the guys are really working hard and we love the quality of their videos. Cool stuff.

Don't Believe The Hype

And don't judge theblagg because we weren't inspired to write an amazing headline. Get into this. Producer Omen had a lot - if you read between the lines - to say about the upcoming MTN Hype Awards. Everyone and their mommas is nominated and Omen just wants to be, he just wants to be successssssfuuuul...

Hi All,

Hype has recently opened up their polls for voting. Yours truly has been nominated for Best Mixtape (Go Figure) and Best Producer. Please Log on to their site: http://www.facebook.com/l/3f042;www.hypemagazine.co.za and vote. There has been a lot of discrepancies surrounding the voting system. Some of the acts who are virtually unknown are raking in huge votes. We have an instance where some unknown cat would score 2100 over L.E.S. for best song..Hmm. Apparently if you wanna vote over and over, all you have to do is vote once then delete cookies and do it all over again and again. Tried it last nite to see if works and voila IT DOES!
