What Else theblagg Gets Up To

Dude and The Ordinary Girl attended Nike x The Fader's Pitch Perfect Workshop Day on June 16. When we weren't complaining about how cold it is we were sharing revelations about how yesterday's Youth Day is really yesterday's youth day. Marinate on that for a bit. theblagg obviously had a little something to say about the proceedings - we can't help that we have the gift of the gab. And it goes a little something like this:

Me: Pssst!
Her: Hi…
Me: What kind of creative idea did you submit to be chosen as one of the 100 young people to attend these workshops?
Her: I didn’t. My brother works here so…
Me: Er, ok.

My dude nudges me to stop harassing people so we can watch The Lazarus Effect documentary in peace. You see, I’m a little confused. It’s Youth Day and under the Nike Sportswear and The Fader’s Pitch Perfect moniker, 100 young people, as well as a few members of the media, have been invited to partake in a day-long workshop (consisting of four parts: the (RED) initiative, music, T-shirt printing and film editing workshops – but more on that later) and concert at the Nike Football Training Center in Pimville, Soweto.

Now go read the rest of theblagg's two cent's worth over at The Mothership.

Just to recap last week: Dude and The Ordinary Girl were invited to a not-so-top-secret Nike party last week Friday. And after we went ballistic over Bafana's goal over Mexico (then damn near boo-hoo'd after Mexico scored), the Nike Sportswear and The Fader crew launched their Pitch Perfect series.

The Breakdown: different artists were asked to compile albums featuring what best represents 6 continents. Spoek Mathambo was tasked with the African one and he put the likes of DJ Mujava together with Pastor Mbhobho and Dirty Paraffin. This particular mixtape was "co-sponsored by longtime partner (RED) — the innovative program meant to help eliminate AIDS on that continent." Dope initiative. We'd like to know what you think of the music. And here is where you can download it. All the mixtape covers are created by Siggi Eggertsson.
