Sitting Pretty

If you're blessed enough to be around beautiful, talented people then a collaboration is a no-brainer. Late last year the Honourary Blagger was behind the lens at a dope shoot focusing on different eras. Mandisa Mditshwa, aka one of the most photogenic people we know, was the model. The enigmatic stylist-extraordinaire Oratile Seabela hooked up the dope threads and the vivacuous Queen Motlatle was the make-up artist (yes, artist) who made our girl even prettier. It was shot at the 12 Decades Hotel at Main Street Life in Jozi CBD so huge shout out to the gracious owners and staff for hosting everyone. Aren't the photo's dope? Clap for everyone.

This One Is For You HB*

This new "freestyle" from the other light skinned rapper hit the internet this week and theblagg can't be selfish. Especially when it comes to G.O.O.D Music. Click below to hear how J. Cole kills it on Serena's man's beat.

An Artist and an artist

This funny and eye-opening exchange between The Ordinary Girl and the Honourary Blagger and colour-filimi's very own was sparked by the Swizzy and Dame inside DD172 video (above).
We both took art in high school but HB became (and is becoming) an Artist while TOG does this. Sigh. Don't judge. Told you I am ordinary. Anyway, here is what went down:

HB: about that swiss beatz video...
TOG: Which one?
HB: with him and damon dash
TOG: Oh yeah
HB: interesting stuff...
TOG: I don't know what you're getting at hehehehehe, spit it out
HB: nah his choice of artists. i was somewhat surprised when he mentioned Ernie Barnes
TOG: Why?
HB: jean-micheal basquiat and jeff koons weren't really a surprise. jean-micheal dated madonna at some point
TOG: Are these people alive kanti? Tjo. Hehehehehehe
HB: ernie barnes died last year. i like his stuff very much (yena le Kadir Nelson are quite similar)
TOG: Show me your fave
HB: ya Ernie Barnes?
TOG: Yes.
HB: you can't be serious. i like everything he's done
TOG: Ok, your fave one at this very minute. I just want to get a sense of his style
HB:

HB: does it remind you of something?
TOG: Was Barnes black? His work looks like many other things I've seen before. But I'm not a connoisseur so... That Barne's piece looks like a scene from The Colour Purple
HB: yeah ernie barnes was black. i'll show what that painting reminds of just now in the meantime check this out first

HB: this is what it remember when i see that painting

TOG: Oh ok.
HB: you said that you might have seen some other stuff that looked looked like his before neh?
TOG: Yes.
HB:

HB: check that out
TOG: Oho o etsa ntwane ya Dali in that war piece. With the "melting' clocks and stuff?
HB: hey? let me check. i don't see it
TOG: I don't have a link, we studied it in school.
HB: sho i know that el savador Dali painting mara when did Kadir Nelson do something similar?
TOG: I'm talking about this kind of thing:

TOG: Nelson le Barnes ba etsa this sort of fluidity with their bodies. The form of a human body is not like that. Just as a clock isn't melting and winding etc
HB: yeah they've got interesting proportions going on there... exaggerated limbs to enhance the movement and energy of their pics. you get some people using that same technique often in manga/anime. like Samurai Champloo for example
TOG: Yeah
HB: i fucks with that style. it's hella hot

Mrs Buber would be both flattered and flabbergasted at the same time. Hm.
