My dream

dream hampton means a lot to The Ordinary Girl. In short, she is the reason. That said, some interesting times are ahead for TOG so it's things like this tiny clip of 19-year-old dream that help her make sense of said times. Enjoy.

  1. I must say that of course she's on point, but I felt that the audio of Public Enemy's 'Show 'Em Whatcha Got' was misplaced. That skit is incredibly concious talking about Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X, Winnie Mandela and Steve Biko and it is recited by Sister Souljah on probably the most political record ever made in any genre of music 'It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back'. So while afterwards I believe Jay Z sampled it for other purposes and while Flavor Flav who's part is being used in the clip, did some very questionnable TV shows, I understand that this video was made before those and the recent history wouln't rewrite the classic anyway. But None of this is to discredit the video or its message and no doubt the song wasn't selected by the speaker either. PEace.

  2. Dream is definitely an inspiration to me too, outside of being female, she is a brilliant sharp writer and her contribution to the documenting of the hip-hop culture has been both prolific and impactful. Anyway, just remember what I said yesterday TOG ;)
