PRO x Fish Eagle
The homey Hardy McQueen hits Dude up on BBM.
"Yo. What ya'll on Saturday night?"
Dude: "I don't know yet. Wasup?"
Hardy: "Doin a joint in PTA. Sheraton Hotel. Bring your camera"
And thats all the info Dude needed to leave JHB on Saturday night. After getting lost for like 20 minutes in downtown Pretoria, we finally find The Sheraton Hotel. BOOOYAH!!! Ahem...As we get to the lobby, we remember that all we know about this event is that Hardy said be there...oh and "Bring your camera".
We get to reception "Excuse me mam, we're here for an event by Hardy McQueen." . The lady smiles "Right this way sir".
We are lead to a hall area and notice the people around us are wearing masks ala Eyes Wide Shut style.
"What kind of freaky ish has Hardy brought us to??" says the voice in my head until...I see a familiar face!!!
Pro.
As in "Dankie San" Pro. On a poster of...Fish Eagle?
Yes folks, Pro is the new face of Fish Eagle Brandy and this event was just one of many to unveil this. Peep the video to see how it went down.
Here's some pics as well to further illustrate the night.
And yes...That was Flex Boogie doing the Tootsie Roll.

A Bad MAMA Shut Your Mouth!*
TeargasAh, The Ordinary Girl just cracks herself up over these corny post titles. See the thing is the South African send off party for the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) will be held at a club called Hush. So that's why I've combined said shut your mouth with the hilar "bad mutha" line*. Get it? Ok, nevermind.
So... the MAMAs will be held in Lagos, Nigeria on 11 December. And if tweets are to be trusted, these awards are going to bring out some of the biggest artists in the world right now. Yes, I said world. Sizwe Dhlomo's words, not mine. Our very own MAMA nominees Teargas and Jozi will perform alongside PRO and AKA at the Road To MAMA - South Africa at Hush on Thursday night. Word has it Public Enemy will also make an appearance.
This has undoubtedly been Teargas' year. The rap trio managed to usurp the industry with some bangers and a dope video. But we're still not sure about those bowties... All hateration aside though, the group has done their thing. And so have Jozi. Granted, Ishmael and Da Les' group history almost mirrors that of Destiny's Child but the pair are still standing. On some mighty fine legs I might add. Don't you guys wish you had Da Les' legs? No? Yeah, me neither. Ahem.
JoziSo yeah, Hush is the new spot on Keyes Avenue in Rosebank and the party will get jumping, jumping with MAMA nominees Jozi, Teargas as well as rapper PRO and December's MTV Brand:New artist, AKA at 10pm. Tickets are R100.
BUT... [insert drum roll here]
If you are a blagger ot blaggette you can go for FREE!!! That's right, MTV Base and theblagg are giving away THREE double tickets to the Road To MAMA - South Africa party. To win all you have to do is answer one question: Which South African MAMA nominees are playing at the party? Send your answers to theblaggtv@gmail.com before midnight on Wednesday 1 December 2010. That's tomorrow blaggers and blaggettes so get sending!
*The corny views of The Ordinary Girl do not represent Dude, theblagg or its affiliates. Though they encourage them fiercely.

TTP Presents Hip Hop Sessions Vol 1 (UPDATED)
Wassup blaggers and blagettes. Because theblagg respects everyone's right to be themselves, we've decided to not only update this post but change it all together! TTP's our boy - not just because he gives away goodies in our comments section. So here it goes:
As TTP (pictured above) has proven, sometimes there is something special about certain rap songs. And other times... well, let's just leave that to your imagination. TTP - real name Thapelo Raphuti - has been doing his thing in SA hip hop and is known as one of the go-to-guys in certain circles.
Titled TTP Presents Hip Hop Sessions Vol 1 (name sound familiar?) and dropped on 22 October 2010, the compilation features some well known acts as well as some up and coming cats. The likes of Pro, HHP and Khuli Chana feature. So does Tuks - who is a questionable inclusion if you ask me, but since you didn't let's move along. Mothipa's Ode to Mary Jane opens the CD and after that you can hear Ifani, Spaceman and The Federation before Ill Skillz closes it off with their popular Baby Baby.
TTP tells theblagg that he has "been working on this compilation for 3 years, collecting songs from emcees that I love and respect. By the way Khuli Chana is my favourite emcee has always been. Most of the guys I have selected some way or another I have worked with. Like Pro (helping out on getting Soweto and other stuff on radio ), HHP (Marketing and Branding of Omang and later did Acceptance Speech launch ko Soweto) etc."
This is the same dude whio was behind some of your favourite radio shows. He tells us he's "worked on YFM - remember The Bridge (Lee, Ace of Spade and Dj Kenzhero)? And produced that show as well as The Essence with Kamza and Andile Ncube..."

This compilation - which, if the Vol 1 bit is anything to go by, will be turned into a series - because it's bigger than just music. He says the artists featured on the release will conduct workshops in their respective townships so as to "inspire and teach up and coming artists."
In these business, image, technical, and life skills workshops, 100 aspiring rappers will see their skills put to the test as they vie for a spot in the Top 12. TTP's community reach-out programme will also "run a competition where the top 12 artists will be chosen to be part of the Best of the Best Graduates compilation. From the 12 selected finalists, one will be selected to be the ultimate winner who will receive marketing and recording back up and also receive a clothing endorsement from Loxion Kulca for 6 months."
You keen blaggers and blaggettes? TTP Presents Hip Hop Sessions Vol 1 is now available at all major retailers, Ritual Store and scoobysnax.co.za
