New Nunulooloo! By the looks of things (read twitter) Nonku is a workaholic. But when your work is your talent then who are you to deny yourself an opportunity to create? She's been putting in work and as reluctant as she is to unleash what she works on, Nonku's done a pretty good job of keeping people interested. Last night she put a track called You on the 'nets. It's such a pretty little love song. Listen here:
And another track that's been speaking to The Ordinary Girl is Divine Intervention. Sometimes you do have bad days and want to be left the fruck alone but you can't sing vulgarity as well as she does. So we'll let her do it:

I'm not sure if Riky Rick and Da L.E.S knew what they were starting when they put out their Barbershop ditty but rappers seem to connect with it. First it was Dirty Paraffin's Okmalumkoolkat who took his own spin on the jam, renaming it Siyagunda. But, the ladies wanted in too. Muptee and Nonku (referred to as Nonks in this song) - as well as some funny banter by Em Kay - churned out their own rendition of the song, aptly titled Beaty Shop. While nails, hair and other girlie things aren't rapped about at length, the ladies provide a skinner session about a fine guy who caught Muptee's eye but who couldn't even pay an auto-mo-bill. Then about a guy who should probably pick up a Dr N.A Ndos flyer and sort out his, er, small problems. Beauty Shop is light hearted and fun, what do you think of it?
This has been one interesting month for The Ordinary Girl. If you know her then you'll know that not only does her favourite rapper wear a skirt (that's word to Eternia), but her top 5 emcees are women too. So with that in mind, I always feel like there's always an emcee I don't know about. That's why I support The Fembassy 100%. As is their tradition, Tuesday is Tell A Friend Day over at The Fembassy and on that day you have to tweet, talk or whatever about your favourite female emcee.
Some of the twitter la familia had some pretty interesting answers on this one particular Tuesday and our girl Nonku said her favourite is Siya (pronounced Sigh-Yah). I made a mental note to check this lady out as I'd never heard of her but soon forgot. As Dude likes to say: blame the head, not the heart. So then I was doing my usual soundcloud stalking and came across this Nonku snippet:
So I played it and played it. And played it some more. Then I remembered Nonku's comment about Siya and I went looking for her. Et voila, pure heat! I came across this dope joint and it took me all of two seconds to realise Nonku's snippet was actually a cover of a Siya song of the same name. So then I played this video:
And played it. And played it til I got paranoid that colleagues were calling my name. So I played it a few more times then came across an incredibly well shot visual for I'm Gone, Siya's single off her mixtape, Elevator Dreams. I was a little disheartened when she brandished a gun early on in the video - who can judge another person's reality, I resolved - and then I was pleasantly surprised when I realised the gun was actually a part of the plot. I won't spoil it for you, here's the I'm Gone video:
Then I kept seeing all these video titles with Rocksmith in them. So I BBM-ed Dude and asked if Rocksmith wasn't the clothing label that he's been telling me about for aeons. Seriously, Dude believes in the brand so much he stopped short of literally shoving the Mac Book down my throat. But anyway, Dude was like yeah and he's stoked that Rocksmith is finally blowing up like it should.
The point of all of this is that Rocksmith officially endorses Siya and that's why you see her in the B-ball jerseys and other dope items. Real recognise real and this Brooklynite who now lives in Atlanta put it best when she said: "See I just landed an endorsement, big up to Rocksmith they got a bitch feeling important." And she's important to me too now, shout out to everything and everyone for aligning to school a sista on Siya. Check out more dopeness below:
We first came across Remy Gold via the lovely ladies at Doepelganger. He recently joined forces with Nonkulululu With 3 Lu's for a Doep set. But we don't live in Cape Town - all together now: aaaaaah!- so we never got to see them together. We've been checking Mr Gold out on soundcloud though and we think he's dope. But don't take our word for it. First watch this video where he shows you how he made this beat in one day and then let us know what you think.

afriPOP!'s Phiona and her friends have even come up with a name to describe his fans: Frankenstans. There are plenty of things that I could tell you about the kid but google is better than me. The long and short of it is he has managed to capture the hearts of everyone from his crew's (you've heard of Odd Future by now) hardcore fans to the ordinary joe, or girl. We All Try, a song from his latest mixtape, Nostalgia Ultra, struck a chord with people from near and far. First up is our girl Nonkulululu With 3 Lu's who was moved to record a cover of We All Try on Slum Village's Dilla-produced Climax beat. On the orther hand, Young Money's Tyga was so moved by the We All Try instrumental that he jacked it and sampled Adele's voice to give us Reminded. What do you think of the two songs?

The Ordinary Girl loves, loves, loves Nonkulululu (yes, 3 lu's). The Capetonian is one of my favourite people to stalk, I mean follow on twitter. And with good reason. The songstress keeps bringing that heat. We first encountered her stuff - by chance, really, while doing the soundcloud browse thing last year. At first the thing that came to mind was this sounds a little like J*Davey. But upon listening some more, Nonkulululu, aka nunulooloo, has given us a delightful variety of ear candy. And since then we've heard some pretty dope stuff about her. This morning she put out a snippet of a song called Whatever and being theblagg, we just had to share.
