This morning The Ordinary Girl's little brother - who is supposed to be paying attention in his high school classes, mind you - hits her up on Facebook. He wants me to remind him whose song Ruff Neck is. My first instinct is to scold him. Not for wasting his class time on social networking but for forgetting.

You see my brother and I watch music videos for hours on end and I quiz him on the origin of a hip hop sample, the sneakers worn by "alternative" musicians and fun facts about who shot who in gangsta rap. You know, the typical things one does with their little brother.

So I answer his facebook question and then wonder aloud: Why doesn't MC lyte have a collabo with a sneaker brand? The cotton pickers keep quiet, there's work to be done after all. So I go to the next best thing: google! And guess what I found? Nah, one of my favourite emcees of all time has NOT had a sneaker collab (that I know of) yet but she has customised her kicks.

Am I the only person who thinks Lyte's lips look like Dude's twin's? Maybe they just use the same lipgloss.

You know how theblagg feels about The Queen. Ok, maybe it's just The Ordinary Girl who has the stalker-like MC Lyte obsession. Anyway, here is a Lin Que throwback that features Lyte on a one-liner in the chorus. Yes, she's that official. I'll be the first to admit I had no idea who Lin Que is until today. And she is amazing! But don't take my word for it, get familiar!
