theblaggTV: Reason and AKA performing "Benilyn"

Reason held his Audio 3D CD launch at Shikisha in Newtown and it was good times. He gave the audience a treat of him performing "Benilyn" with, Mr SAMA-Best-Male-Act himself, AKA. Here's the performance below captured by theblaggTV.

A fratpackular weekend

Those Vaal Triangle boys, me and Mr Calibre, will perform at Club Illusions (in the V) on Saturday night. As you can see on the flyer, young Kiernan will also do his thing. Interestingly - yes, I just said that - fratpack put their own spin on AKA's hit, All I Know and called in Plan B. The pseudo-vocoder is really funny (sorry, Dude) but the message is dope. Listen to it here:

All We Know

When we first heard AKA's All I Know, we expected the visual component to be super dope. But after arguing over which direction he should've taken, Dude and The Ordinary Girl agree that it is up to an artist to represent him or herself the best way that they can. Off his debut album, Altar Ego, the former Entity member brings us All I Know:

Word is the rapper who is "never trusted in DBN" is set to collaborate with Feiyue on a pair of sneakers. It seems the kicks brand that originated in Shanghai but is now based in France has a keen interest in the Mzansi youth culture practitioners and theblagg thinks it will be interesting to see what Feiyue and young Kiernan come up with.

And if you're not sure if you know the brand, here is a reminder:

A Bad MAMA Shut Your Mouth!*

Teargas

Ah, The Ordinary Girl just cracks herself up over these corny post titles. See the thing is the South African send off party for the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) will be held at a club called Hush. So that's why I've combined said shut your mouth with the hilar "bad mutha" line*. Get it? Ok, nevermind.

So... the MAMAs will be held in Lagos, Nigeria on 11 December. And if tweets are to be trusted, these awards are going to bring out some of the biggest artists in the world right now. Yes, I said world. Sizwe Dhlomo's words, not mine. Our very own MAMA nominees Teargas and Jozi will perform alongside PRO and AKA at the Road To MAMA - South Africa at Hush on Thursday night. Word has it Public Enemy will also make an appearance.

This has undoubtedly been Teargas' year. The rap trio managed to usurp the industry with some bangers and a dope video. But we're still not sure about those bowties... All hateration aside though, the group has done their thing. And so have Jozi. Granted, Ishmael and Da Les' group history almost mirrors that of Destiny's Child but the pair are still standing. On some mighty fine legs I might add. Don't you guys wish you had Da Les' legs? No? Yeah, me neither. Ahem.

Jozi

So yeah, Hush is the new spot on Keyes Avenue in Rosebank and the party will get jumping, jumping with MAMA nominees Jozi, Teargas as well as rapper PRO and December's MTV Brand:New artist, AKA at 10pm. Tickets are R100.

BUT... [insert drum roll here]

If you are a blagger ot blaggette you can go for FREE!!! That's right, MTV Base and theblagg are giving away THREE double tickets to the Road To MAMA - South Africa party. To win all you have to do is answer one question: Which South African MAMA nominees are playing at the party? Send your answers to theblaggtv@gmail.com before midnight on Wednesday 1 December 2010. That's tomorrow blaggers and blaggettes so get sending!

*The corny views of The Ordinary Girl do not represent Dude, theblagg or its affiliates. Though they encourage them fiercely.
